Samsung has been relying on its very own Bixby assistant for a while, but recently shifted to Google’s Gemini AI assistant that users can toggle with a long press on the power button.
Now, however, Samsung is reportedly in talks with Perplexity to integrate the AI assistant in Samsung phones. With this, Samsung is planning to enhance the AI capabilities of its Galaxy phones. Here’s everything you need to know.
Samsung Galaxy S26 may get Perplexity as a default assistant
According to Bloomberg, Samsung will integrate the Perplexity AI assistant into Samsung phones. This might begin with the flagship Galaxy S26 lineup of phones.
For those unaware, Perplexity is an AI chatbot that has similar AI capabilities to those of ChatGPT and Gemini. However, it can retrieve real-time information, unlike the former, even in the free tier.
With Perplexity on the Galaxy S26, users will be able to access the AI assistant with a long press on the power button.

Other than this, Samsung is also reportedly looking to add Perplexity’s search feature to Samsung’s web browser. Samsung might also leverage this yet-to-be-confirmed partnership to add some Perplexity AI features into the Bixby virtual assistant. However, it’s unclear how Samsung plans to market it if Perplexity is set as the default AI assistant.
That’s all we know so far. But since it’s all based on a report, take the information with a pinch of salt. It’s still a while until we get to see the next Galaxy S flagship lineup. The Galaxy S26 series may launch in the first quarter of 2026. It is expected to feature both Exynos and Snapdragon chips and boot on Android 16 OS.
