Samsung India is supercharging its Samsung Wallet app with a bunch of India-specific features. A new update introduces seamless UPI integration right from device setup, biometric payments that finally ditch the PIN, and new Tap & Pay support for international travel.
A huge quality-of-life boost for Galaxy users
First up, Samsung is now the first phone maker in India to bake UPI registration directly into the initial device setup process. This is a big deal. It means new Galaxy phone owners can be totally payment-ready the moment they power on their device for the first time.
The second upgrade is the one everyone’s been waiting for without even realising it: ditching the payment PIN. Samsung Wallet will soon let users authorise their UPI payments using their phone’s built-in biometrics. You’ll just use your fingerprint or face recognition to approve a transaction. This is also more secure since it removes the need to punch in numbers in public.

Next, the wallet app will also soon support using your saved credit and debit cards for online checkouts. These cards are safely tokenised within the app, meaning you can pay at key merchants without the boring and risky task of manually typing in your card details.
For globe-trotters, the update brings Tap & Pay support for FOREX cards, powered by WSFx Global Pay Limited. This makes using your Galaxy device for international transactions a simple tap. The company is also expanding its partner list, bringing AU Bank cards into the Tap & Pay fold.
Samsung officials are framing this as a major push to make the Wallet a “universal and secure gateway” rather than just a digital pocket.
Finally, the whole suite of features is, of course, protected by the company’s defence-grade Samsung Knox security. The new updates are set to begin rolling out soon to supported Galaxy devices.
