Samsung’s next foldable revolution

This could be our first look at the Samsung Galaxy Z Trifold

Back in January 2025, Samsung confirmed that it would launch its first-ever triple foldable smartphone this year. While the company has not yet made an official announcement, multiple reports suggest that the upcoming device will be called the Galaxy Z TriFold.

According to a new report by South Korean publication Chosun, Samsung showcased the Galaxy Z TriFold today (October 28) at the Samsung Electronics booth during a side event at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, taking place in Gyeongju, South Korea, from October 31 to November 1.

Galaxy Z TriFold: What’s know so far?

The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold features a 6.5-inch display when folded. It utilises dual-hinge technology, allowing users to unfold it once to reveal an 8-inch tablet-like display, and again to fully open it into a 10-inch screen.

This design aims to combine smartphone portability with tablet-level productivity. Unfortunately, Samsung is keeping most of the technical specifications under wraps for now.

Reports suggest that Samsung plans to produce the TriFold in limited quantities, estimated between 50,000 and 200,000 units during its initial production phase. The phone will reportedly be available in select regions, including South Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and the UAE.

Pricing leaks indicate that the Galaxy Z TriFold may cost around $2,800 (~Rs 2,47,180), roughly $1,000 more than Samsung’s existing book-style foldables.

Tri-foldable phones from other brands

Samsung isn’t the first brand to experiment with tri-folding technology. In 2024, Huawei unveiled the Huawei Mate XT in China as the world’s first tri-foldable smartphone and has since launched a second-generation model.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is also said to be working on its own tri-foldable device, which is rumoured to debut in the first quarter of 2026, although detailed specifications remain unknown.
