Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026. Last year, the South Korean tech giant held a separate launch to unveil the Galaxy S25 Edge, an ultra-thin flagship phone, after announcing the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. There have been reports suggesting that the Galaxy S26 Edge would debut alongside other S26 models. However, in a surprising development, a new report claims that the company has cancelled the S26 Edge.
Galaxy S25 Edge may not be selling well
According to a report by South Korean publication Newspim, the main reason behind Samsung’s decision to discontinue the Edge series is the lacklustre sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge (review). The report states that the company recently notified its employees that it will not launch the Galaxy S26 Edge.
As of August 2025, Samsung reportedly sold only 1.31 million units of the S25 Edge. In comparison, the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra reached 8.28 million, 5.06 million, and 12.18 million units, respectively. Although the S25 Edge has been on the market for fewer months, its overall sales performance appears disappointing.
As for the Galaxy S25 Edge, Samsung may discontinue the model once its existing stock is sold out. This suggests that the upcoming Galaxy S26 lineup will likely include three models, namely the Galaxy S26 (also referred to as Galaxy S26 Pro), Galaxy S26 Plus, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Earlier this year, reports suggested that Samsung might replace the Galaxy S26 Plus with the S26 Edge. However, newer information indicates that the company has resumed development of the S26 Plus, further hinting that the Edge variant has been shelved.
It is important to note that Samsung has not issued any official statement regarding the future of the Edge lineup. Therefore, readers are advised to take this report with a pinch of salt until the company provides confirmation.
