Sennheiser’s new HDB 630 headphones are designed for true music enthusiasts

They come with a secret weapon, too, for better phone audio

Sennheiser’s new HDB 630 headphones are designed for true music enthusiasts

Sennheiser has just dropped the HDB 630. These are a new pair of premium wireless headphones aimed squarely at music lovers who refuse to compromise on sound quality.

These new cans might look familiar because they rock the same body as the Momentum 4s from 2022. The insides have been changed completely though, with a new customised acoustic system.

Familiar design, big changes inside

At its heart are 42mm dynamic drivers. Sennheiser promises you will hear the track exactly how the artist intended in the studio, with a focus on smooth mids and intimate vocals.

The HDB 630’s real trick is how it handles high-resolution audio. Many phones today still can’t handle top-tier wireless codecs like aptX Adaptive. Sennheiser’s solution is a bundled USB-C transmitter. This little dongle is a get-out-of-jail-free card for your phone’s audio. It instantly upgrades devices by basically forcing them to be high-res audio compliant.

You can also go old-school with a USB-C or 3.5mm cable for lossless listening up to 24-bit/96kHz. The company also packed in some seriously cool software. The HDB 630 borrows the Crossfeed feature from its legendary HE 1 headphones, which blends audio channels to create a more speaker-like soundstage.

There is also a new Parametric Equalizer for deep, granular control over your sound profile. You can even share your custom EQ presets with other users via QR codes in a future update.

And finally, battery life is absolutely bonkers. You get up to 60 hours of playtime even with active noise cancelling switched on. A quick ten-minute charge gives you another seven hours of listening.

The headphones are available for pre-order now for $499.95 (roughly Rs 44,383) in select regions, with shipping scheduled to start on October 21. An Indian availability hasn’t been announced yet, but stay tuned for that.
