In the world of cinema lenses (think Netflix-level shoots, not your weekend vlogs), fast glass is gold. And Sigma’s new Aizu Prime Line delivers just that, with a jaw-dropping T1.3 aperture across all lenses. And with an aperture of T1.3, these cinema lenses have the world’s fastest aperture.
Translation? These cinema camera lenses let in a ton of light, making them ideal for dreamy background blur – that creamy, soft look where your subject is razor sharp and everything behind melts into a cinematic haze. It’s what pros call ‘bokeh‘, and it makes everything look like a high-budget production.
Sigma Aizu Prime Line cinema lenses: What’s new?
Sigma’s Aizu Prime Line is a brand-new lineup of 12 cinema lenses designed for serious filmmakers using Sony E-mount, L-mount, and industry-standard PL-mount cameras. Initially, eight lenses covering the 25mm to 75mm range will arrive in August 2025, with the rest rolling out after.
All lenses share that blazing-fast T1.3 aperture, giving filmmakers consistent creative control across focal lengths. They’re designed for large-format cameras, like the kind used on Hollywood sets – but despite that, the lenses are surprisingly compact and light, each weighing around 1.7kg.
What makes these new lenses from Sigma special, you ask? Well, apart from the blazing fast aperture, there’s also uniformity across the board. They’re the same size, same weight, and even have the same look, making it easy to swap lenses on set without rebalancing gear.

Another benefit of these new lenses is clean and consistent image quality. No funky color shifts or weird distortions. What you shoot at 25mm looks and feels the same as what you shoot at 75mm. And lastly, there’s minimal ‘focus breathing’. It’s that annoying effect where the image zooms slightly when you adjust focus? That’s gone here.
Sigma even shot a full short film using the Aizu Prime Line to show off what these lenses can do. You can expect velvety backgrounds, natural skin tones, and razor-sharp detail in low light; all the good stuff that gets cinematographers excited.
But wait, there’s AF now?
That’s right. Sigma also teased autofocus-powered cinema lenses – a first for the company in this category. Autofocus (AF) is usually a no-go in high-end filmmaking because it’s not accurate or silent enough. But Sigma says these new AF Cine Line lenses – starting with a 28–45mm T2 zoom in November 2025, and a 28–105mm T3 zoom in mid 2026 – will be different.
They’ll use designs borrowed from Sigma’s ultra-popular Art photography lenses, promising both pin-drop quiet focusing and pro-level image quality. And yes, they’ll work with Sony and L-Mount cameras too.
These new Sigma cinema lenses are vying to be a complete toolkit for filmmakers who want to capture that premium, big screen feel without needing a Hollywood budget. Pricing details are still under the wraps though.
