Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 brings enhanced gaming, camera experiences on budget phones

Qualcomm has announced the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, designed to deliver elevated gaming and photography experiences on budget-friendly Android phones. Built on a 4nm process, the new chip brings enhanced performance compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3. Read on to know everything about the new 6-series chip.

Snapdragon 6s Gen 4: Performance and efficiency upgrades

Compared to the previous generation, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 offers a 36 percent improvement in CPU performance and a 59 percent faster GPU. This translates to longer battery life, smoother multitasking, and quicker app loading times. The chipset supports up to 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 3.1 storage for efficient data management and faster read/write speeds.

One of the biggest upgrades lies in gaming. The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 supports 144fps gameplay on FHD+ resolution displays, delivering ultra-smooth visuals. It also features Variable Rate Shading (VRS) to optimise graphics rendering by adjusting shading rates for better balance between quality and speed.

Additionally, Qualcomm’s Game Quick Touch technology reduces touch latency, providing a more responsive and lag-free gaming experience, a notable benefit for competitive mobile gamers.

In terms of imaging, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 integrates dual 12-bit ISPs (Image Signal Processors) capable of capturing photos and videos at up to 200MP resolution. Even when zoomed in, image details remain sharp and clear.

It also features hardware-accelerated Multi-Frame Noise Reduction (MFNR), which enhances low-light photography by reducing image noise and maintaining clarity and colour accuracy.

On the connectivity front, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 supports 5G Release 16, an updated version of the 5G standard that improves stability, coverage, and speed. The chipset also includes support for Bluetooth 5.4 and Wi-Fi 6E, ensuring reliable wireless performance for modern connected devices.
