Sonos has unveiled two new speakers called the Sonos Play and Sonos Era 100 SL. The devices expand the company’s wireless audio range and are designed to work with the broader Sonos ecosystem. Both models support wireless streaming and can connect with other Sonos speakers to create a multi-room listening setup.
Sonos Play, Era 100 SL: Specs and features
The Sonos Play and Sonos Era 100 SL are designed to deliver balanced sound through a compact speaker layout. Each model uses three digital amplifiers that are tuned according to the internal acoustic design.
The speakers feature two angled tweeters intended to create stereo separation along with a mid-woofer designed to handle vocals and bass output. Through the Sonos app, users can adjust equaliser settings such as bass, treble and loudness.Both speakers are powered by a quad-core processor with four Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.4GHz and include 1GB of RAM. The Sonos Play includes 8GB of internal storage, while the Era 100 SL comes with 4GB.
The Play variant also includes microphones for voice interaction, whereas the Era 100 SL removes microphones and focuses only on audio playback. Both models support Trueplay tuning when paired with compatible iOS devices, allowing the system to adjust sound output based on the surrounding environment.
Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and Apple AirPlay 2. The speakers can also be grouped with other Sonos products for multi-room playback through the Sonos app. A USB Type-C port is available for optional accessories such as Ethernet or line-in adapters.
The Sonos Play includes a 35Wh battery that is said to deliver up to 24 hours of playback and also carries an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. The Era 100 SL does not include a battery and requires a wired power source.
Sonos Play, Era 100 SL: Price and availability
The Sonos Play is priced at $299, which is roughly Rs 27,500, while the Sonos Era 100 SL costs $189, around Rs 17,400. Both speakers are offered in black and white finishes and are currently available for pre-order in the United States through the official Sonos website and select retail partners. Sales are scheduled to begin from March 31.
On the Sonos India website, the Sonos Play and Era 100 SL are listed with prices of Rs 31,999 and Rs 21,999 respectively. However, the pages currently indicate that the speakers are coming soon, and the company has not yet announced an official sale date for the Indian market.
