Clip-on comfort meets smarter calling

Sony LinkBuds Clip offer open-ear audio and serious stamina

Sony has expanded its open-ear range with the LinkBuds Clip, a new pair of clip-on wireless earbuds designed to sit lightly on the outer ear while keeping you aware of the world around you. Launched at an event in Europe, the Sony LinkBuds Clip are priced at $229.99 (~ Rs 27,500) and come in Black, Taupe, Green, and Lavender colours.

The headline feature is the C-shaped clip design, which hooks onto the ear rather than sealing it off. The idea is simple: music and calls without cutting you off from traffic noise, office chatter, or the barista calling your name. It is clearly aimed at commuters, runners, and anyone who finds fully sealed earbuds a bit much for all-day wear.

Open-ear design, all-day battery

Battery life is a strong suit here. The earbuds offer up to nine hours on their own, with the charging case extending total listening time to around 37 hours. A quick three-minute top-up delivers about an hour of playback, which should cover a last-minute dash out of the door.

The case charges over USB, and the earbuds carry an IPX4 rating, making them suitable for workouts and light rain.

Sony has also built in a set of tap-controlled listening modes. Standard Mode covers everyday use, Voice Boost enhances speech in noisier settings, and Sound Leakage Reduction aims to keep your audio from bothering people nearby. Adaptive Volume Control and scene-based listening adjust sound levels automatically depending on where you are.

Clearer calls and familiar Sony extras

For calls, the LinkBuds Clip use AI-powered Voice Pickup Technology, combining dual microphones with a bone conduction sensor to better isolate your voice. Sony says the noise reduction system was trained on a wide range of voice and environmental sound samples, with the goal of making calls clearer in busy surroundings.

Connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint support, so you can stay connected to two devices at once. The earbuds work with Sony’s Sound Connect app, offering a 10-band equaliser, customisable controls, 360 Reality Audio support, and personalised sound tuning based on ear shape.

Sustainability also gets a nod. Sony says recycled plastics are used in both the earbuds and the charging case, and the packaging is completely plastic-free.

With the LinkBuds Clip, Sony is clearly doubling down on open-ear listening, offering a lifestyle-friendly alternative to traditional earbuds without skimping on battery life or everyday features. Are these on your wishlist? Drop a comment to let us know.
