Sony has announced a new controller, and it works on both PS5 and PC. It’s not your average controller or a special edition though. Instead, it’s a completely new type of controller for Sony, and it has been designed with a type of game in mind – fighting games.
We are talking about Sony’s Project Defiant. It’s the fight stick revealed by Sony at a previous State of Play event. The fight stick, which is nothing but a wireless controller for fighting games, is now finally here in all its glory. Continue to read to know more about Project Defiant.
All about Sony's Project Defiant fight stick
Sony’s Project Defiant is a dedicated controller for fighting games like Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and Tekken, among others. What’s special about this controller is that it’s custom-designed by Sony and uses the PlayStation Link technology for ultra-low latency.
The fight stick also supports wired connectivity on PC and PS5. With its dual-tone design, the fight stick complements the colour theme of the console. It has a black body with a White shade for the area where the buttons sit.

Speaking of buttons, there are all the essential keys, including R1, R2, L1, L2, and four of the action buttons. And there’s also a stick and a couple of buttons next to it for enabling wireless connectivity and other features. It also has a touchpad, like the PS5 controller, and a USB-C port for wired connectivity.
That’s all we know so far about Sony’s Project Defiant so far. There’s a lot more to know about the controller, including its pricing, among other things. But that may take a while, as it’s confirmed to launch only in 2026. What do you think about Project Defiant? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
