It’s been six years since the launch of the PS5, and speculations have already stirred up about the successor, PS6. While it was rumoured to arrive sometime next year, new reports suggest a further delay. What this means is you won’t get PS6 even after the release of GTA 6, which is due for November this year.
If you are a PlayStation fan or just curious about the console’s release date and features, read on to know everything about the PlayStation 6.
What is the PS6 release date?
Early leaks suggest Sony is targeting a late 2027 to early 2028 launch window, which fits the company’s move towards longer console generations. The PS5 is still performing strongly, so Sony is expected to take its time before moving to the next generation.
What would PS6 be like?
The PlayStation 5 brought a modern redesign, and the upcoming PS6 is set to refine it. Sony is said to offer a simpler design with compact aesthetics, so that it takes up less space in your gaming room.
Moreover, expect the console be slimmer, making it easy to fit anywhere or carry around with you. We’ll know about its exact design as we get closer to its release late next year or in 2028.
What are the expected PS6 specs?
The PS6 could be powered by the AMD Zen 6 processor or later, paired with RDNA 5 graphics. Here are its complete specifications.
– AMD Zen 6 chipset
– 30GB GDDR7 Memory
– RDNA 5
– 160W TBP
Given these specs, the PS6 will be targeting 4K gaming at 120FPS. You will also see features like ray tracing, AI-based performance optimisation, and more.
Backward compatibility is also expected to remain a major focus, with reports suggesting support for PS5 and PS4 titles. This will help players carry forward their game libraries.
What will be the PS6 price?
Sony is reportedly aiming to keep the PS6 price lower than the PS5 Pro’s $699 (about Rs 63,300) price tag, making it accessible for many.
