Sony is gearing up for a packed midweek showcase, confirming that its next State of Play broadcast will run for over an hour! That alone makes it one of the longest instalments in the series, and a clear indication that PlayStation has a lot it wants to talk about.
Sony has stayed characteristically tight-lipped on specifics, but it has promised a mix of first-party updates alongside third-party and indie titles headed to the PS5. Here’s when the event is happening, and what, us gamers, can expect.
Sony State of Play 2026: Event date and what to expect
The Sony State of Play 2026 broadcast airs on February 12, streaming live on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels. Viewers in India will need to set an early alarm though, with the show kicking off at 3.30 AM IST on February 13.
On the PlayStation Studios front, expectations are already forming. Saros, Housemarque’s upcoming bullet-hell action game, feels like a safe bet given its April 30 PS5 release window. Another likely appearance is Marathon, with Bungie expected to share more details ahead of its March launch across PS5, PC, and Xbox.
There is also renewed chatter around Marvel’s Wolverine, last seen at September 2025’s State of Play, with a fall 2026 launch window still on the table. A firmer date would not feel out of place during a longer showcase.

Santa Monica Studio remains the big unknown. Rumours suggest remasters of older God of War titles could be in development, alongside a new project led by Cory Barlog. Whether Sony is ready to talk about any of that yet is another matter.
Third-party momentum and cautious rumours
Beyond Sony’s own studios, the showcase is expected to spotlight a healthy slate of third-party titles. Games such as Crimson Desert, Resident Evil Requiem, and 007 First Light are all tipped to appear.
As ever, the rumour mill is running faster than the official announcements. Speculation around a new Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 is doing the rounds, though history suggests a cautious approach is wise.
There is also persistent talk of Starfield finally making its way to PS5, which would mark a notable moment for Bethesda’s sci-fi epic.
An hour-long State of Play does not guarantee surprises, but it does raise the ceiling. If nothing else, Sony seems keen to remind players that 2026 is shaping up to be a busy year for PlayStation. Which game announcement are you most hyped for? Drop a comment to let us know.
