We can’t get enough of Guile’s haircut

Street Fighter live film trailer is now out, and it’s wonderfully chaotic

The Game Awards stopped being purely about video games for a few minutes on Thursday when Paramount Pictures took over the broadcast to reveal the first footage for the 2026 Street Fighter film.

The trailer is now live on YouTube, and as you can tell, it isn’t trying to be a realistic drama. Instead, its director Kitao Sakurai is taking us back to 1993 for something that embraces the absurdity of the source material.

The clip is colourful, loud, and delightfully campy. You have a visual style that seems to borrow the urban graffiti aesthetic from Street Fighter 6 while keeping the plot firmly planted in the 90s.

A star studded cast and a neon-soaked city

The reveal was made after almost the entire cast took over The Game Awards stage in Los Angeles. You had WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, who is playing the American soldier Guile, standing alongside Roman Reigns.

Reigns looks genuinely terrifying as the demonic Akuma. Rhodes, meanwhile, is rocking Guile’s gravity-defying flat-top haircut.

The ensemble cast is stacked, too. Beyond the wrestlers, we have Noah Centineo as Ken Masters, Andrew Koji as Ryu, and the legendary Jason Momoa as Blanka. Even 50 Cent is in this as Balrog.

Street Fighter is set to release in theatres on October 16, 2026.
