Tecno Pop X brings network-free calling to budget phones

Tecno has unveiled the Tecno Pop X, an entry-level smartphone in India. Some of the major highlights of this phone include a high refresh rate display, a splash-resistant body, and a no network calling feature. Here’s a closer look at what the Tecno Pop X has to offer.

Tecno Pop X: Specs and features

The Tecno Pop X has a 6.75-inch LCD panel offering an HD+ resolution along with a 120Hz refresh rate. On the front, it has an 8MP selfie camera, and its back panel has a 13MP camera equipped with a dual LED flash.

The Pop X comes preloaded with HiOS-based Android 15, which also includes Tecno’s Ella AI with regional language support. It is powered by the Unisoc T7250 chip and a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging support. The SoC is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage. For additional storage, it features a dedicated microSD card slot.

For security, the Pop X has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. In terms of connectivity, it offers 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The Pop X also comes with a “no network communication” feature, which allows users to establish walkie-talkie-type calls over a range of up to 1.5km. However, it should be noted that this feature only works between Tecno phones. Finally, the phone comes with an IP64-rated dust and water resistance.

Tecno Pop X: Price and availability

The Tecno Pop X has landed in India in a single 4GB + 64GB trim priced at Rs 8,499. Scheduled to go on sale from March 6, it will be available in two colour variants: white and green. The pricing suggests that the Pop X will compete with the likes of the Redmi A5 4G, Vivo Y19e 4G, and Samsung Galaxy A07 4G.
