Samsung is preparing to launch its next foldable phones in the coming weeks. While there’s still some confusion about its chipset, a new report hints that Samsung may use a more efficient Snapdragon chipset for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8.
The chipset in question will probably be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2 for Galaxy. This will be a 2nm-based chipset fabbed at Samsung Foundry. Notably, a TSMC-made version will also be available but it will be based on the 3nm fabrication.
Samsung foldables could be more efficient and powerful
A more efficient chipset for Galaxy devices, including the upcoming foldables, may offer a competitive edge to Samsung. How? A 2nm chipset may offer more efficiency and being the 2nd generation of the Snapdragon 8 Elite may bring added performance.
While all that sounds great, it’s worth noting that the Z Fold 7 and the Z Flip 7 phones, which are set to launch in the coming weeks, will most likely pack a 3nm-based chipset. While some reports suggest the Exynos 2500, others hint at the existing Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Apart from this, Samsung is expected to bring a few upgrades to the Z Fold 7 and the Z Flip 7. They may come with a more refined design, including minimal crease visibility. The foldables are also expected to get an improved camera system, especially the Z Fold 7.

Unfortunately, the exact camera details are unclear, but it may finally receive a camera setup similar to the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra. What’s more? The foldable duo may run Android 16 out of the box with One UI 8 – both coming with new features and UI improvements.
That’s all we know so far about the upcoming foldables from Samsung. What do you think about these foldables and which out of the two excites you the most? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
