Vivo V60 vs OnePlus Nord 5: What’s the difference?

Two very different formulas at around the same price

Vivo V60 vs OnePlus Nord 5: What’s the difference?

Vivo announced the Vivo V60 this month, a full month after OnePlus dropped its Nord 5. While both phones are priced rather similarly, they couldn’t be any more different in terms of specs. Let’s take a look at what they have to offer and which one is a better pick for you.

Vivo V60 vs OnePlus Nord 5: Design, display

The Vivo V60 is has a very sleek look and feel. It’s incredibly thin at just 7.53mm. Our first impressions noted, “When a phone looks as good as the newly-launched Vivo V60, you almost want to skip the spec sheet and just let it sit there on your desk, collecting compliments”. It’s available in some flashy colours like Auspicious Gold and Moonlit Blue. The V60 sports a 6.77-inch quad-curved AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 5,000 nits local peak brightness. This screen is built to look good even under the harshest Indian sun.

The OnePlus Nord 5, on the other hand, feels a bit more grown-up. Our review put it perfectly “it doesn’t feel like a mid-range phone. There’s no plastic sheen, no timid spec list, no compromise. It feels… elevated”. It’s a little thicker and heavier than the V60, but it has a rugged feel with its flat-edged frame. The Nord 5 boasts a larger 6.83-inch AMOLED screen with a smoother 144Hz refresh rate. While its peak brightness is a more modest 1,800 nits, it’s still plenty bright for everyday use.

Vivo V60 vs OnePlus Nord 5: Cameras

Vivo is continuing its photography-focused approach with a Zeiss-backed triple camera system on the V60. The star of the show is the 50-megapixel primary with the IMX766 sensor, but it’s the 50-megapixel telephoto lens that really catches the eye. Our initial impressions found that the telephoto’s 10x zoom is basically a dream for outdoor shots. The V60 also packs a 50-megapixel selfie camera, making it a strong choice for portrait lovers.

OnePlus has equipped the Nord 5 with a very capable 50-megapixel Sony LYT-700 primary sensor with optical image stabilisation. This is the same main camera found on the more expensive OnePlus 13s. Our review praised its performance, stating, “The 50MP Sony LYT-700 primary sensor with OIS delivers genuinely solid results. Skin tones are almost bang-on, and the dynamic range is surprisingly refined for the price”. It also features a 50-megapixel front camera for sharp selfies.

While the performance of the primary cameras may vary, the Vivo’s telephoto does give it a massive advantage.

Under the hood, the Vivo V60 is powered by the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chip, paired with up to 16GB of RAM. It comes with a massive 6,500mAh battery and zippy 90W fast charging.
