WhatsApp Channels to get verified badges, redesigned recommendations with a new update

WhatsApp introduced Channels last year and has been rolling out user-friendly developments ever since. What started off as a topical forum for the like-minded has now transitioned into an app-based community that users can connect over. Apart from making Channels more accessible on the smartphone app, WhatsApp now even allows you to transfer ownership with ease.

However, it seems as though there are bigger plans for the feature in the timeline. In a more recent announcement, the Meta-owned platform has stated how it plans to integrate a bunch of much-awaited developments into Channels. Check out what they are:

WhatsApp Channels update: What's new?

WhatsApp Channels act as a great medium for organisations, groups, businesses, brands and celebrities to connect with news or updates. WhatsApp previously mentioned how Channels will remain separate from regular chats; however, the company mentions a few updates in the near future that will ensure better user experience.

According to a recent post published on WABetaInfo, an update will bring in a more accessible entry point for users looking to discover new Channels. The redesigned section feature recommended Channels will now be placed at the bottom of the list, which will allow users to find the group of their choice with ease.

One of the other new features will also allow users to perform bulk actions on any of the Channels; these include muting them, pinning a favourite or marking them read. Lastly, public figures or businesses can also get their Channels verified with a badge.

When will these updates be available for everyone?

The list of features is currently under development and will soon be rolled out to a larger audience. That said, the report also mentions how the instant messaging app plans to have future updates in the pipeline that will certainly help refine WhatsApp Channels for the better.
