WhatsApp set to introduce Instagram-like ‘react’ feature

Meta-based WhatsApp has gained a bunch of interactive features in the past couple of years. In fact, with features such as screen sharing and Call Scheduling mode, the platform has slowly transitioned into a mainstream meeting app over time.

However, that hasn’t stopped it from introducing features that can enhance user experience along with communication. In a more recent announcement, the brand announced a quick reaction feature that will soon allow users to send their reaction to a contact’s story. Here’s what this means:

WhatsApp Quick Reaction feature: What is it and what all can it do?

According to WABetaInfo, the new feature will allow users to express themselves better with quick reactions. Unlike emojis that are currently visible within the chat window, users will always find reactions for any status update uploaded by their contact. In fact, much like its cousin app Instagram, WhatsApp, too, will display these reactions on the status display page of your selected contact.

The report mentions how this addition aims at keeping the interface clutter-free, allowing anyone to promptly express their sentiments or interact with status updates. Like text or image messages, WhatsApp quick reactions will also stay end-to-end encrypted. This means neither WhatsApp nor any other third-party app will be able to read your reactions to another’s status update.

When will this feature be available to everyone?

As of today, WhatsApp is working on the feature and it may be a while before it rolls out to all smartphone users. However, there are several other features the Meta-owned platform has rolled out, including the Meta AI chatbot, that you can currently access or make the most of. Until then, don’t forget to watch this space for any more WhatsApp-related developments.
