WhatsApp to let users design their own Status pics using AI

Meta AI creativity comes to WhatsApp Status

WhatsApp to let users design their own Status pics using AI

WhatsApp is rolling out an exciting new feature that will let users create AI-generated visuals and use them as Status updates. Powered by Meta AI’s advanced generative technology, the feature allows users to transform simple text prompts into shareable images directly within the app.

This eliminates the need to rely on external AI image generators like Gemini or ChatGPT, making the process faster and more seamless for WhatsApp users.

Using Meta AI to create personalised Status on WhatsApp

WhatsApp recently introduced a feature that lets users create customised chat wallpapers using Meta AI, simply by describing the kind of background image they want. Now, according to WABetaInfo, the latest update takes this a step further, allowing users to generate and share AI-created images as Status updates, bringing even more creativity and personalisation to the app.

After installing the latest update, WhatsApp users will need to navigate to the Updates tab and select the new “AI Images” option, which appears alongside existing choices such as text, voice, music, and layout.

Here, users can enter a prompt to describe the image they want to create, for example, “a futuristic skyline glowing with neon lights” or “a tropical island with crystal-clear turquoise water.” Based on the prompt, Meta AI will generate several image options for users to choose from.

If the results aren’t satisfactory, users can modify or re-enter the prompt to regenerate new images. Once an image is selected, it can be edited, users can rotate or crop it, and add overlay text, captions, or stickers. The final image can then be shared as a Status update with a single tap.

Even if you have installed the latest update, you might not see the new feature yet. This is because WhatsApp is currently testing it in select regions, with a wider rollout expected in the coming days. The good news is that the feature will be available across all platforms, including Android, iOS, web, and desktop,  once the rollout is complete.
