Xiaomi 18 could pack a bigger 6.4-inch screen, 200MP periscope telephoto lens

Qualcomm is reportedly working on two versions of its next flagship chip. It is being said that standard, Pro, and Pro Max-branded flagships may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, whereas the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro could be designed for more powerful Ultra-branded flagships. In recent Weibo posts, reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed key details about the Xiaomi 18 series.

Xiaomi 18 series key details tipped

DCS’ recent Weibo post suggests that the Xiaomi 18, 18 Pro, and 18 Pro Max could be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The reason these devices may not feature the Pro variant of the chip is that it is said to be quite expensive and supports advanced features like LPDDR6 RAM.

Among these models, the Xiaomi 18 is likely to see major upgrades. As per another Weibo post by DCS, its screen size may slightly increase to the 6.4-inch mark, allowing it to accommodate additional components.

He added that the entire Xiaomi 18 lineup will feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. This will be a major upgrade for the standard Xiaomi 18, as its previous generation featured only a regular telephoto camera. The inclusion of a periscope telephoto camera will certainly enable higher optical zoom support.

As per a recent report, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max will arrive with dual 200MP cameras. These devices are also expected to feature a rear-facing secondary camera.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro may power the Xiaomi 18 Ultra

The Xiaomi 18 lineup will also include the Xiaomi 18 Ultra, which is unlikely to launch in September. Speculation suggests that this phone may debut with the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro by the end of this year in China.

At present, it is too early to comment on the Xiaomi 18 series’ global availability. Likely, the Xiaomi 18 and Xiaomi 18 Ultra may arrive in global markets, including India, in the first quarter of 2027. It is unclear whether the Pro models will make it to the countries outside of China.
