A recent State of Global Air 2025 report highlights that death rates in India from air pollution are nearly 10 times higher than in high-income nations. The smoggy season is upon us once again, and Dr. Ken Armstrong, Research Director at Dyson, shares a few helpful tips for picking the right air purifier for your needs.

Capturing fine particles

First, check a purifier’s ability to capture ultra-fine particles. We are talking about the truly invisible enemies. These particles, known as PM0.1, are so small they can supposedly penetrate the lungs and potentially enter the bloodstream. A good machine needs to trap these.

Next, circulation is king. You need a purifier that can actually cover your room’s area. Many machines just shoot air straight up. This fails to distribute clean air evenly. A purifier should be able to project and circulate clean air properly across the entire space.
