Back in 2017, Apple celebrated its 10th anniversary by launching the iPhone X. It was unveiled alongside the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, skipping the iPhone 9 series completely. The year 2027 marks the company’s 20th anniversary, and according to a report by South Korean publication ET News, Apple will reportedly skip the iPhone 19 series and announce the iPhone 20 instead.
The report, citing Omdia senior researcher Heo Moo-Yeol as its source, reveals that the iPhone 20 will arrive with bold design changes. He also outlined Apple’s entire iPhone lineup for 2027.
2027 Apple iPhone lineup
Just as the Apple iPhone X arrived with a major design overhaul, the iPhone 20 launching as the 20th anniversary edition in 2027 may debut bold design changes. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the 2027 iPhone is expected to feature an edge-to-edge display with a wraparound design, hinting at an all-glass body.
The Omdia report adds that the iPhone 20 will launch alongside the more affordable iPhone 18e in the first half of 2027. In the second half, Apple is expected to unveil four more models: the third-generation iPhone Air, iPhone 20 Pro, iPhone 20 Pro Max, and a book-style foldable iPhone (the first generation of which is expected in 2026).
iPhone 18 could be skipped in 2026
As for 2026, the same report claims that the iPhone 18 series will include three models, such as the second-generation iPhone Air, iPhone 18 Pro, and iPhone 18 Pro Max, along with the first-generation foldable iPhone.

It also mentions that the base iPhone 18 model will be skipped in 2026, allowing Apple to realign its lineup and naming strategy for the 20th anniversary launch in 2027.
iPhone Flip in works
According to another ET News report, citing research firm Stone Partners as its source, Apple is also said to be working on its first flip phone, similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 7. However, this clamshell-style foldable iPhone is expected to debut in 2028.
