Apple iPhone Air 2 reportedly delayed indefinitely due to this reason

There have been reports that the recently released ultra-thin phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge and Apple iPhone Air, haven’t received a good market response, with sales reportedly lower than expectations. These developments cast doubts about the existence of their successor editions, which were expected to launch in 2026.

A new report by The Information reveals that Apple has delayed the iPhone Air 2’s arrival amid weak sales of the current generation.

iPhone Air 2’s future in question

Previous reports have claimed that the Apple iPhone Air 2 may debut alongside the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple’s first foldable phone in September 2026. The new report states that due to weak sales, Apple may skip the 2026 launch for the second-generation iPhone Air.

The report adds that Foxconn, one of Apple’s supply chain partners, has dismantled iPhone Air production lines and aims to complete production within this month. Another supplier, Luxair, reportedly stopped iPhone Air production in October.

It is also being said that Apple has internally removed the second-generation iPhone Air from its 2026 product roadmap.

iPhone Air 2 rumours

As per reports, the iPhone Air 2 is expected to be thinner and lighter than the first-generation model, even after packing a larger battery and a vapour chamber cooling unit. A recent report claimed that it could feature a dual 48MP camera setup on the back. Under the hood, it may be powered by the Apple A20, the company’s first 2nm chip, which is designed to drive the iPhone 18 lineup.

Reports further suggest that Apple plans to launch the standard iPhone 18 along with the affordable iPhone 18e in the first half of 2027. It remains to be seen whether the second-generation iPhone Air will debut alongside the iPhone 18 and 18e, or if it’s completely off the company’s roadmap.
