Apple iPhone Fold has surfaced in fresh renders, offering an early look at what could be Apple’s first foldable smartphone. The latest images outline Apple’s direction with foldable hardware. Early details point to a focus on display quality, refined engineering, and a premium form factor. Here’s a look at what Apple’s first foldable phone would look like.
Book-style design and creaseless display focus
Recent renders shared by Jon Prosser through Front Page Tech suggest that Apple has opted for a book-style foldable design rather than a flip-style format. The outer display is said to measure 5.5 inches, while the inner folding screen could span 7.8 inches. What stands out most is the claim of a near-invisible crease, something Apple has reportedly been working on for years.
To achieve this, Apple may rely on a pressure-dispersing metal plate, liquid metal components within the hinge, and an in-cell touch panel. These elements are expected to work together to minimise fold visibility and maintain consistent touch response across the screen. The device is also tipped to be slim, measuring around 9mm when folded and roughly 4.5mm when unfolded.
In terms of cameras, the iPhone Fold is expected to feature four sensors in total. This includes a front camera on the outer display, two cameras on the rear, and one camera on the inner folding screen. This setup would allow users to capture photos and videos comfortably in both folded and unfolded states.
Performance-wise, the device is said to run on Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chip, paired with the second-generation C2 modem. A high-density battery is also expected, designed to balance power efficiency with the demands of two displays. Security could see a shift as well, with Touch ID integrated into the power button, while Face ID may be absent.
iPhone Fold launch timeframe, price (expected)
The iPhone Fold is tipped to launch in September 2026 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro series. Pricing is expected to fall between $2,000 and $2,500 (about Rs 1,65,000 and Rs 2,10,000), positioning it as Apple’s most premium iPhone to date.
