Apple is apparently tapping Google to give Siri a brain transplant. According to a Bloomberg report, a custom-built Gemini model will power the assistant’s big reboot. So now, the long-delayed revamp of Siri, first shown off at WWDC last year (2024) and repeatedly pushed back, is now tipped to finally launch around March 2026.
This integration will be way different from the current ChatGPT integration. Siri will not be noticeably passing you off to another bot. Instead, Apple is reportedly paying Google to create a special, custom Gemini model that runs entirely on Apple’s own Private Cloud Compute servers.

Think of it as Google’s AI engine hiding under an Apple-designed bonnet. Users will just see the slick Apple interface, but the actual intelligence-enabling features, like a new AI-powered web search, will come from Google’s tech. It will not simply mirror Gemini features from Android.
The new Siri’s debut is expected alongside a future iOS update. And it’s also set to coincide with new hardware. Apple is apparently lining up a new smart home display, coming in both speaker-based and wall-mounted variants.
Even the new Apple TV and HomePod mini, set to launch soon, will reportedly “help showcase” the new assistant’s capabilities.
All this seems to be building a foundation for a broader smart home security ecosystem, possibly including cameras, later next year. We will likely get a proper preview of the next major software leaps, like iOS 27 and macOS 27, at WWDC next June.
