A good air purifier is essential in any home, and not just in cities with an obvious pollution problem. See, air purifiers don’t just remove pollutants, they also filter out allergens like pollen, odours to a limited extent, and generally make the air healthier to breathe.
When looking for a good air purifier, you’re looking for one that has the air flow to handle your room, and other essentials like a charcoal filter and the rating of its air filter. It’s also important that it be easy to service and that spares are plentiful.
Keeping all the above in mind, here are a selection of what we think are the best air purifiers for you in 2025:
1. Philips 900i smart air purifier
The Philips 900i is one of Croma’s top-rated air purifiers and the best option for most homes. It has a compact, energy-efficient design but can handle rooms up to 300 sq ft in size. Noise levels are rated at just 20.5 dB while power consumption comes in at a mere 23W.
It comes with a 3-layer filtration system for capturing particles as small as 0.003 microns, and it does so at a CADR (clean air delivery rate) of 250 cubic metres per hour. That’s plenty for most rooms. Philips also includes an app which you can use to monitor air quality and control the device remotely.
