When building a home theatre for your home it makes sense to start with the TV. This will be the centre-piece around which all else is built, after all. Size does matter here, but for a premium setup, quality also matters a great deal. You want good HDR, excellent contrast, and of course, great colour accuracy to experience the visuals as the director intended. Here are the best premium TVs for exactly such a setup.
TCL C6K - 55-inch minLED TV
While OLEDs with their deep blacks are ideal for a home theatre, they’re quite expensive and not for everyone. The best alternative, which can also beat OLEDs in many scenarios, are miniLED TVs like the TCL C6K. For Rs 50,000 you’re getting a TV that can deliver an extremely bright and punchy image, support for 144 Hz VRR when gaming, Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HLG, a powerful 2.1 audio setup from Onkyo, and a lot more besides. This TV is a steal and a great starting point for any home theatre.

Sony Bravia 2 - 65-inch 4K LED TV
When you want size and image quality, you can opt for the Sony Bravia 2. This 65-inch TV doesn’t have local dimming features, but it makes up for it with a reasonable price and superb colour accuracy. Smart TV features are built in, as is support for Dolby Atmos via 40W speakers.
It also features a powerful upscaling processor which can breathe life into your low-res content. If you’re a gamer, the TV is only 60 Hz – sufficient for console gaming – but includes a low-latency mode to reduce input lag. The TV is also compatible with Google’s Chromecast protocol and Apple AirPlay 2. A great deal at Rs 80,990.
Xiaomi X Pro Series - 65-inch 4K LED TV
If you’re looking for a more serious 65-inch gaming TV that also doubles as a great centrepiece for your home theatre, consider the 65-inch Xiaomi X Pro TV. It’s features are similar to the Bravia 2’s, missing primarily Sony’s proprietary upscaling processor and audio setup, but adding support for 120 Hz gaming. This one also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+ for the best visual quality. This model is available on Croma at Rs 57,990.

Samsung S95F - 65-inch 4K OLED TV
For a truly premium experience, nothing beats a good OLED TV. OLEDs offer near infinite blacks and thus contrast, which makes visuals pop like no other tech. Samsung’s S95F is expensive at Rs 2,04,290, but it offers you a premium experience that few TVs can match.
It’s also a 65-inch model with a powerful upscaler and image processor, not to mention a glare-free and, unusually, a pantone validated panel for pure and authentic colours. Gamers will also be happy that the device supports both FreeSync Premium Pro for tear free visuals, and ALLM for reduced input lag.
LG Evo AI G5 - 65-inch 4K OLED TV
Finally, we come to what many consider to be the ultimate in home theatre televisions, the LG G5. You’ll find it in sizes ranging from 55 inches to 97 inches but we think the sweet spot is 65, which goes for Rs 2,24,990 on Croma.
This TV is the very definition of premium, featuring 144 Hz VRR with ALLM and HGiG, WebOS, LG’s best-in-class upscaler and image processor, perfect blacks, and even a built in AI sound mixer that will attempt to mimic a home theatre experience. The TV also supports GeForce Now, by the way, so you don’t even need a console.
The best premium TV for you depends entirely on your setup and budget. We’d recommend at minimum a miniLED TV for the exceptional HDR it offers, and moving to an OLED only if you have the budget for it. Oh, and if you’re looking for a home theatre to match that TV, check out this article.
