Bandai Namco announces mysterious new Dragon Ball Z game

Dragon Ball fans had quite the weekend. Between the announcement of a new anime and a fancy remastered take on Battle of Gods, there was plenty to get excited about. But Bandai Namco also snuck in something that caught a lot of people off guard.

During the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event, the publisher revealed a brand new game project simply called Age 1000.

A brand new Dragon Ball world is coming

The trailer introduces us to a white-haired character who was designed by the late Akira Toriyama before his passing in 2024. He rocks a colour scheme that’s giving strong Great Saiyaman vibes, and they’re sporting the Capsule Corporation logo with the initials “GS” on their outfit.

The trailer shows them effortlessly taking down some masked goons in what looks like a digital simulation, and then — because of course — they go Super Saiyan right at the end.

According to Bandai Namco, the project promises “a brand-new Dragon Ball world and its entirely original characters.” The team behind it says Toriyama put more work into this than any previous game, which is quite the statement considering how involved he was with the franchise over the years.

Unfortunately, we don’t know what kind of game this actually is or what platforms it’ll land on. Bandai Namco is keeping those details under wraps.

The good news, though, is that we won’t be waiting too long for answers. More information will drop at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026, which is happening April 18-19 in Los Angeles. Age 1000 is currently slated for a 2027 release.

It’s also worth mentioning that at the same Dragon Ball event, the franchise also confirmed a remastered anime titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
