The festive season, and winter are around the corner. Along with festivities though, also comes poor air quality, rampant throughout most of the country.

At such a time, it’s probably a good idea to invest in an air purifier. Controlling the quality of the air around us is crucial for our health. Failing to do so results in us breathing in unwanted allergens and dust particles suspended in the air, which can lead to severe respiratory issues in the long run.

Now, as with any other appliance, there are a number of brands to choose from, for air purifiers as well. Some of these include Philips, Voltas, and Blue Star. One more brand in this space is Dyson, which has launched a new air purifier, and it’s called the Purifier Big+Quiet.

Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet launched in India

Dyson’s new Purifier Big+Quiet features an airflow projection capability of up to 10m, using a low-pressure air delivery system referred to as Cone Aerodynamics. This mechanism merges two streams of air over a smooth surface, creating a powerful and condensed jet of air. This is also referred to as the Coanda effect.

The Purifier Big+Quiet features two filters, a HEPA H13-grade particle filter and a carbon filter. The former, Dyson says, can capture 99.95 per cent of all particle-based pollutants in a room, and can last for as long as two years before it requires to be changed. The carbon filter, on the other hand, though specifically designed to filter nitrogen dioxide in the air, also captures benzene and household odour.

Most air purifiers otherwise need to operate at full speed to effectively purify the air in a given room, which of course causes them to produce more noise than one would ideally want in their homes. The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet therefore, is equipped with a Broadband Helmholtz silencer, which is essentially a cavity shaped to capture sound. The labyrinth seal design also reduces the amount of energy the air released holds, and subsequently, noise produced due to the same. The motor is soft-mounted within the compressor, which further helps reduce vibrations.

What’s cool is, that the Purifier Big+Quiet can also recreate the natural breeze one would otherwise experience in their rooms, provided they could keep their doors and windows open. How it does this, is using a unique algorithm in its system, which allows it to oscillate a jet of air in an up-and-down motion.

The Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet features a particulate sensor, which uses an infrared laser to detect and tell users about the PM2.5 and PM10 levels in the air in the room it is placed in. In addition to this, the purifier also features a gas sensor, which can detect and report on Benzene and nitrogen in the air, as well as a temperature and humidity sensor.

Oh, and. Did we mention it can also be controlled using Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri as well?

Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet pricing and availability

The new Dyson Purifier Big+Quiet is available in two colours – white and satin silver and is priced at Rs 68,900. It will be available for purchase from Dyson, as well as from all other partner retail outlets across the country.
