Far Cry is getting a web series and it’s being helmed by the creators of Alien Earth

American TV network FX has officially ordered a live-action Far Cry television adaptation, and it’s coming from the minds of Rob Mac and Noah Hawley. The channel confirmed the news recently and stated that the series will be an anthology format just like the video games are.

Rob Mac will star in the anthology series

The show is a pretty big deal in and of itself, but it’s an even bigger one for Rob Mac. He is going to both co-create the show and star in it. You probably know him best from his comedy work on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia or that football documentary Welcome to Wrexham.

Noah Hawley is the other creative force behind this project. He is coming fresh off Alien: Earth, and he also created Fargo and Legion for FX. The plan is for every season of the show to feature a new location and a different cast.

Hawley told the press that the anthology structure is actually his favourite part of the franchise. He said that each game is a variation of a theme and he wants to explore the nature of humanity through a chaotic lens.

Rob Mac released a statement saying that working with Hawley is a dream realised. He also mentioned that Ubisoft has been remarkably generous by entrusting them with the IP.

This is actually the second time Mac has worked with Ubisoft Film and Television. They previously collaborated on Mythic Quest for Apple TV but that show was cancelled after four seasons.

Currently, it’s unknown what the plot of the first season is or who Mac will be playing. What we do know is that when the show does come out, you’ll be able to stream it on Disney+.
