The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) in India has announced a new FASTag annual pass to ease the heavy toll burden for daily commuters using private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans. The annual pass will cover designated National Highway (NH) and National Motorway (NE) toll fee plazas – State Highways and Expressways are not included.
This move will not only reduce toll costs but also help lower queue times at toll plazas across the country. Here’s everything you need to know about the FASTag annual pass and how to apply for it.
How to apply for FASTag annual pass, price details, and more
First, you will need to be registered. The annual pass cannot be issued for FASTags registered only with a car number. You must update the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) to activate this pass. To do so, you will need to submit the following documents:
– Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)
– Passport-sized photograph of the vehicle owner
– KYC documents as per the category of vehicle owner
– ID and address proof

Once registered, FASTag can be purchased either offline or online. To buy it online, visit bank portals such as ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, PayTM Payments Bank, and others.
To activate the annual pass, download and install the Rajmargyatra mobile application or activate it via the NHAI website. Your annual pass will be activated after verifying the eligibility of the vehicle and its linked FASTag.
Once the verification is complete, you need to make a payment of Rs 3,000 for the annual pass for 2025–2026 through the app or NHAI website. The annual pass will be activated on the registered FASTag within two hours of payment.

The annual toll pass is valid for one year or 200 rides (toll plaza crossings), whichever comes first. So, regardless of the toll fee, your Rs 3,000 pass will cover 200 rides or one year. Once you complete your 200 trips or a year has passed, the pass automatically reverts to a normal one. You can renew the annual pass through the app or NHAI website.

So I am interested in this annual one but need some clarification. We normally cross two tolls on one highway where during normal course we are charged only once either on starting point or the last ending point. So after i apply for this annual one with this one trip considered as one trip or 2. One on starting and one at ending point.
