Fujifilm is known for its Instax cameras in India, which bring retro-style, printable photos to you at just a click. Now, Fujifilm has announced another camera that brings back the retro vibes.
Enter the all-new Fujifilm X half, a new half-frame camera with a portrait-oriented sensor and two displays. It offers 18MP stills and comes with Film Simulation colour effects. If you love cameras and retro tech is your thing, continue to read more about the Fujifilm X half.
What’s special about the Fujifilm X half?
Unlike other modern cameras, the all-new Fujifilm X half is a tiny camera that fits in your palm. As the name suggests, it’s a half-frame camera that boasts a unique vertical sensor for portraits. It’s a 1-inch sensor, allowing you to get the most amount of natural light in your images.
The camera is capable of offering 18MP JPEG photos in a 3×4 vertical format. Despite a large sensor, it doesn’t allow you to shoot RAW. It has two screens, and both are tiny. One of them, however, is slightly extended and acts as a viewfinder. The other LCD is to display all the old-school Film Simulation colour effects, like Astia and Provia.
Now, these colour effects are exactly what you’d expect. They enhance the photos to make them look vintage. These effects are inspired by Fujifilm’s film stock, which has been loved by all of us. To give you a context, these are the same effects as the ones on Fujifilm X100VI, a popular mirrorless camera from the Japanese brand.

Other than this, the X half is a simple camera to use. It has a still/movie toggle and a play button to play all the videos stored on the device.
The Fujifilm X half appears to be just the gadget every retro-tech fan would love. But it’s worth noting that not everyone can buy it. That’s unless you live in the US, UK, and other European regions. It costs $849 (about Rs 72,400) and will be available next month.
