If you have been killing your time playing GTA 5 while waiting for GTA 6 to arrive, then there’s good news for you. No, Rockstar hasn’t revealed the launch date or dropped a new trailer for GTA 6. Rather, it has revealed that GTA 5’s next-gen upgrades that were so far available on consoles are finally coming to PC.
These upgrades include features like ray tracing, faster loading times, new GTA Online updates, and more. Here’s everything you need to know about GTA 5’s free PC upgrade.
What to expect from GTA 5’s free PC upgrade?
Grand Theft Auto 5 will get next-gen upgrades on March 4. These upgrades will be offered in an update that will bring PC-exclusive ray tracing features like global illumination and ambient occlusion. The game will also support DLSS 3 for NVIDIA GPUs and FSR1 and FSR3 for AMD GPUs, allowing you to get better performance.
Furthermore, the update will improve loading times. As of now, when you try to load GTA 5, the game takes an eternity until it launches. Pair that with a bunch of crashes before joining the online server. Now, however, with this update, the game will load faster if you have it installed on an SSD.
On PC, the game will now also support Sony’s DualSense controllers and adaptive triggers for haptic feedback. In addition to these features, the free upgrade will also allow PC players to get a GTA+ membership, which gets players access to GTA$500,000 every month in their bank accounts.
What’s more? The free upgrade will add new GTA Online content, including Hao’s Special Works auto shop, which is located inside the LS Car Meet. With this, players can access new vehicles that were previously only available on consoles, like the PlayStation 5.

The newly added vehicles include Coil Cyclone II (Super), Imponte Arbiter GT (Muscle), Karin S95 (Sports), Pegassi Weaponised Ignus (Super), and Pfister Astron Custom (SUV). In addition to this, there will be newly upgradable vehicles for GTA Online players.
That’s everything major coming to GTA 5 with the free PC upgrade next month. These upgrades will ensure that existing as well as new players get the most out of GTA 5 before its next iteration launches later this year.
