Honor 500 series debuts with iPhone Air-like design, massive batteries, triple cameras

Honor has launched the Honor 500 and Honor 500 Pro in China, and one of the most striking things about this series is how completely different it looks from the previous generation. These phones look like an iPhone Air on steroids, as they feature a similar horizontal camera visor but with as many as three rear cameras.

The 500 series also packs enormous batteries that are nearly three times the size of the iPhone Air’s battery. Continue reading ahead to learn about the full specifications, features, and pricing.

Honor 500, 500 Pro: Specifications and features

The Honor 500 and 500 Pro flaunt a 6.55-inch LTPO OLED panel with 2736 x 1264 pixels resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 6000 nits. The bezels are extremely slim at 1.05mm, and an in-display fingerprint reader is present on both models, with the Pro using an ultrasonic sensor.

The Honor 500 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, and the Honor 500 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite platform. RAM options go up to 16GB with storage reaching 1TB on the Pro. Each phone carries an 8,000mAh battery with 80W wired charging, 27W reverse wired charging and 50W wireless charging exclusive to the Pro.

Both phones run on MagicOS 10 based on Android 16. The rear camera system includes a 200MP main sensor with OIS support, a 12MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus and a 50MP telephoto lens on the Pro with 3x optical zoom. The front camera is 50MP and supports 4K video.

Additional features include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, an IR blaster, and an IP68/69/69K-rating for dust and water resistance. The Honor 500 series feature an aluminium frame and glass back, with both models measuring around 7.8mm in thickness. The Honor 500 weighs 198 grams while the 500 Pro sits at 201 grams.

Honor 500, 500 Pro: Price and availability

The Honor 500 is available in 12GB+256GB priced at CNY 2,699 (~Rs 33,840), 12GB+512GB at CNY 2,999 (~Rs 37,600) and 16GB+512GB at CNY 3,299 (~Rs 41,360).

The Honor 500 Pro comes in 12GB+256GB at CNY 3,599 (~Rs 45,100), 12GB+512GB at CNY 3,899 (~Rs 48,850), 16GB+512GB at CNY 4,199 (~Rs 52,600) and 16GB+1TB at CNY 4,799 (~Rs 60,150). Colour options include Moonlight Silver, Ocean Blue, Starlight Pink and Obsidian Black.

The series is currently limited to China, with no confirmation on when it will be released in other markets.
