Instagram is giving its short video format a little more order. The Meta-owned platform has rolled out a feature that lets creators link multiple Reels into a series. Think of it as turning scattered uploads into a proper box set. Instead of chasing down “part two” in the reels section, you can now just tap through neatly connected clips and keep the story rolling.
It’s a simple change, but one that solves a long-standing headache for both creators and viewers. Whether it’s a recipe thread, a workout program, or just a juicy story told in parts, everything can now live together in one tidy sequence.
A smoother way to binge comes to Reels
The new feature is dubbed ‘Linked Reels’. Newly uploaded as well as previously published reels can be linked, however, content that’s shared exclusively with close friends or subscribers will not be eligible.

When posting an Instagram Reel, creators can add it to a series through a new ‘Link reel’ option. Once linked, a new button in the bottom left corner lets viewers jump straight to the next instalment without fumbling through search or hashtags.
Reels can also be retroactively linked, so, if you have an older reel that fits into your series, you can easily add it in.
How to link Instagram reels
To link a new reel, simply follow these steps:
Step 1: Upload your reel as usual and when you reach the caption stage, you will find a new option below the caption box to “Link a reel’
Step 2: Click on it and select the reel you want to link. You can only link one reel at a time, not multiple in one go.
Step 3: You can add a title to the linked reel (for example: Full body HIIT workouts). The title will appear on the reel it’s linked to. You can also choose to leave it blank and it will default to ‘Linked reel’
Step 4: Tap OK and share your reel as usual.

For an existing reel, you need to:
Step 1: Tap the three dots menu on the right of an existing reel and click on the ‘Link a reel’ option.
Step 2: Give it a title and click OK, and you’re done!
For Instagram, the move isn’t just about convenience. Longer watch time and better engagement are the obvious perks, but there’s also a community angle. It makes casual viewers more likely to stick around, discover more content, and maybe even hit that follow button.
It won’t transform Instagram overnight, but it’s the kind of quality-of-life tweak that makes scrolling less chaotic and more like watching a curated playlist. A small win for creators, a bigger win for anyone who’s tired of typing “pt 3???” in the comments.
