Insta360 has introduced a new 360-degree action camera called the Insta360 X4 Air, aimed at creators looking for high-resolution capture without carrying too much weight. According to the brand, the new device brings major recording upgrades and improvements to portability. Here is a closer look at everything the latest camera offers, including its price and where it will be sold.
Insta360 X4 Air: Specs and features
The Insta360 X4 Air is equipped with a pair of 1/1.8-inch sensors paired with f/1.95 lenses, enabling 8K recording at 30fps. There are additional formats such as 6K 30fps in InstaFrame mode and 4K 30fps in Me mode.
According to Insta360, the larger sensors deliver a 134 per cent increase in pixel area per frame compared to the standard X4, improving colours and clarity. Video can be captured in H.264 or H.265 formats with up to a 180Mbps bitrate.
For creative flexibility, the camera includes Active HDR, AdaptiveTone exposure adjustment, and three colour profiles named Vivid, Standard, and Flat. Still images can reach up to 29MP resolution with modes such as HDR Photo, Burst, Starlapse and Interval.

The camera is rated to survive up to 49 feet underwater and features user-replaceable lenses for added durability. Video stability is handled through FlowState Stabilisation and 360-degree Horizon Lock.
Hands-free control is available with Twist-to-Shoot gesture activation and voice commands. The X4 Air weighs 165g and includes a 2,010mAh battery that can record up to 88 minutes of 8K 30fps footage.
Insta360 X4 Air: Price and availability
Insta360 X4 Air is priced at $399.99 (about Rs 35,300) for the Standard Bundle, while the Starter Bundle including an extra battery, invisible selfie stick and lens cap is $439.99 (around Rs 38,720). It will be sold in Black and White through the company’s website and Amazon in select regions. Buyers are also eligible for a complimentary one-year Insta360+ subscription.
While it is expected to be available in the US and Canada soon, there is no information about its availability in India.
