Intel Core i9-14900KS may be around the corner; to feature 6.2GHz clock speed

Every year, hardcore gamers eagerly await updates to Intel’s high-powered Core i7 and i9 CPUs for desktops and laptops. This year happens to be no exception, with the internet rife with rumours around the Core i9-14900KS. Now, a leaked image of the same suggests that the CPU’s launch is imminent, likely at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. Here’s what you need to know.

Intel Core i9-14900KS expected features and key specifications

Well-known CPU tipster HXL (9550pro) posted an image on X (formerly Twitter), of what is supposedly the new Intel Core i9-14900KS CPU. The image is being said to have slight inconsistencies in the lettering on the heat sink when compared to the previous generation Core i9-13900KS.

Rumour has it, that the Core i9-14900KS will come with a blazing fast clock speed of 6.2GHz right out-of-the-box, with 24 cores (eight performance and 16 efficiency cores), and 32 threads. Intel is also expected to increase the TDP of the chipset to 150W, which is 25W higher than any other model in the Raptor Lake series. The TDP of a chipset, for those unaware, stands for Thermal Design Power and essentially refers to the power consumption of the chipset under the maximum load it can be subjected to theoretically.

Rumours about the Core i9-14900KS first surfaced sometime in November last year. Intel has been releasing these high-end CPUs for a couple of years now, including the Core i9-12900KS and the Core i9-13900KS in April 2022 and March 2023 respectively, as well as their Raptor Lake equivalents. It is therefore expected to release the core i9-14900KS soon as well, perhaps at CES 2024.
