iPhone 15 models compared: iPhone 15 vs iPhone 15 Plus vs iPhone 15 Pro vs iPhone 15 Pro Max

At its Wonderlust event last night, Apple took the wraps off the iPhone 15 lineup, after months of rumours and speculation. The new iPhone series includes four models – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max. If you’re wondering which one is the one for you though, here’s a quick rundown of each iPhone 15 variant, and how they stack up against each other.

iPhone 15 vs iPhone 15 Plus: Top features compared

Let’s start with the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus. The “smaller” iPhone 15 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with a resolution of 2556 x 1179 pixels. The iPhone 15 Plus, on the other hand, features a larger 6.7-inch display with a resolution of 2796 x 1290 pixels. Both models are powered by the A16 Bionic chip, which was seen last year in the iPhone 14 Pro models.

However, the iPhone 15 Plus has a slight edge in terms of battery life over the iPhone 15, owing to the larger capacity. The iPhone 15 Plus supports video playback for up to 26 hours, as compared to the iPhone 15’s 20 hours of video playback. Both the devices support fast charging, with a 20W or higher adapter.

Coming to design, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are similar for the most part, featuring Apple’s Dynamic Island as standard. They have an aluminum chassis and a colour-infused glass back, with volume rockers and a mute switch on one side, and the power button on the other.

In perhaps one of the biggest changes to the iPhone lineup this year though, Apple has launched the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus with a USB Type-C port and support for USB 2.0.

The iPhones are water resistant up to a depth of six metres for up to 30 minutes and also feature a ceramic shield front. The iPhone 15 weighs in at 171 grams, as compared to the iPhone 15 Plus’s 201 grams.

They also feature a similar dual camera setup at the rear, with a 48MP primary shooter, as well as an ultrawide lens, with the former having a 2x telephoto option.

iPhone 15 Pro vs iPhone 15 Pro Max: Top features compared

Now, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are powerful enough in their own right. But in case that’s not quite enough for you, there’s always the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

The iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max feature a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR display as well. However, they support ProMotion technology, and have adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz, as well as an Always-on display, something the base variants of the iPhone 15 miss out on.

Both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are powered by a new and more powerful A17 Pro chip and have a slightly larger battery capacity as well. The iPhone 15 Pro allows for video playback for up to 23 hours at a stretch, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max supports 29 hours of video playback.

The two devices are again largely the same in terms of design. However, one key difference between the Pro and non-pro models of the iPhone 15 is the Titanium chassis and textured matt glass back in the former, as compared to the latter’s aluminium chassis. They, however, have the same ceramic shield front, like the base variants.

The iPhone 15 Pro weighs in at 187 grams, whereas the iPhone 15 Pro Max weighs 221 grams. While the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max also feature a USB Type C port like the base variants, they get added support for USB 3.0, allowing for much faster charging and data transfer speeds.
