Rumours suggest that the Apple iPhone 17e may debut globally this month. While it won’t be a major upgrade over its predecessor, it is expected to arrive with three key upgrades. This could be the reason a new report claims that the 17e may not see a price hike compared to the previous generation.
Apple A19 to bring performance boost
According to the latest edition of Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter by Mark Gurman, the iPhone 17e will feature the Apple A19 chipset, which is also expected to power the iPhone 17.
This suggests that the 17e could offer up to 40 percent CPU performance improvements compared to the iPhone 16e. Apart from this, the presence of a 16-core Neural Engine is expected to offer advantages such as better AI performance and increased memory bandwidth.
Apple’s own C1X modem
The iPhone 17e is also said to be powered by the C1X modem, which is Apple’s proprietary modem. Its inclusion is expected to bring twofold improvements in networking speeds. The same modem is also reportedly available on the iPhone Air.
Faster and stable wireless charging
Another upgrade expected on the iPhone 17e is support for MagSafe wireless charging. This will be faster and more stable than the iPhone 16e’s Qi-based 7.5W wireless charging. With MagSafe support, wireless charging speeds on the iPhone 17e are expected to go up to 25W.
Some reports have claimed that the iPhone 17e’s front camera will be upgraded to 18MP, but Gurman’s report does not mention it.
Apple iPhone 17e price (rumoured)
The report further claims that the iPhone 17e’s design and pricing will remain unchanged. Gurman suggests that the base variant will be priced at $599, which indicates that it may start at Rs 59,900 in India, similar to the previous generation.
As for the launch date, a recent report claims that the device could debut globally on February 19.
