Several reports have claimed that Apple may unveil its first foldable phone alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in September this year. In a new development, a Chinese tech blogger has shared fresh details about the design of the iPhone Fold (tentative name).
The source claims that the iPhone Fold, which is already said to sport a wider, book-style folding design, is built to be both aggressive and elegant, potentially setting a new benchmark for foldable smartphone engineering.
iPhone Fold design details leaked
According to the leak, the iPhone Fold’s volume keys are positioned on the top-right side, similar to the button layout seen on the iPad mini. This could take some getting used to for long-time iPhone users. The power button with integrated Touch ID and a dedicated AI camera button are said to remain on the right side.
The unusual button placement is reportedly driven by internal design constraints, with the mainboard positioned on the right side to avoid cross-display wiring. This allows the left side to remain free of physical buttons, dedicating more internal space to the display structure and battery. As a result, the device is claimed to house the largest battery ever fitted in an iPhone.
The device is tipped to feature a single punch-hole front camera with a smaller, cleaner cutout. On the rear, it may sport a horizontally aligned dual-camera setup alongside a microphone and flash, housed in a black camera module that contrasts with the body colour. The foldable iPhone is currently said to be confirmed in white, with expectations of two colour options at launch.
iPhone Fold specification (rumoured)
Recent reports suggest that the iPhone Fold may feature a 5.3-inch cover display and a 7.8-inch foldable inner screen. It could be powered by the next-generation Apple A20 chip, paired with 12GB of RAM and a C2 modem for stable 5G connectivity.
Its rear camera setup may include dual 48MP sensors, while the front camera could be an 18MP unit. At present, there is no information available regarding the device’s battery capacity.
