Leaks and rumours surrounding Apple’s first foldable phone have started to gather pace. Expected to debut alongside the iPhone 18 series in September this year, a recent report claimed that the device would only go on sale in December. Now, a new leak has surfaced revealing Apple’s plans to make the iPhone Fold crease-free.
iPhone Fold rumoured to have dual UTG sheets
Prolific leakster Digital Chat Station shares that Apple may employ dual-layer ultra-thin (UTG) and ultra-thin flexible (UTF) glass structure to reduce crease on the inner display. The display will be placed between layers of glass sheets which may help Apple to prevent the screen from directly coming in contact with the hinge mechanism. This could reduce wear and tear quickly when folding.

The iPhone Fold is also rumoured to come with a self-healing glass which could hide minor scratches and stress marks. OPPO took the same approach with its recently unveiled Find N6.
This is everything the latest leak reveals about the iPhone Fold. The device is already rumoured to feature a 5.5-inch external screen and a 7.8-inch interior display. It will have a wide 4:3 aspect ratio giving it a book-style look compared to tall design on current foldables in the market. The phone is also reported to offer an iPad-like experience in an unfolded state with support for multitasking.
Other expectations for the iPhone Fold include A20 Pro chipset, dual rear and front cameras, Touch ID embedded in the power button, and dynamic island on the external screen.
