iQOO 15 to launch in India with Android 16 and long-term update promise

iQOO has officially confirmed that its next flagship, the iQOO 15, will debut in India on November 26, running Android 16-backed OriginOS 6 right out of the box, while being powered by the speedy Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. But what’s truly attention-grabbing isn’t just the hardware, it’s the company’s extended commitment to software longevity.

iQOO 15 to get 5 years of software updates

According to a Smartprix report, the iQOO 15 will receive five years of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates, marking a major step forward for the brand’s after-sales ecosystem. The move reportedly stems from user feedback and iQOO’s push to align with premium software support standards set by rivals like Samsung and Google.

This makes the iQOO 15 the first device from the brand to ship with OriginOS 6, Vivo’s latest skin built on Android 16. For context, the iQOO 13 offered four years of OS updates and five years of security patches, itself a notable leap from the company’s earlier three-year policy.

iQOO 15: Specs and features

Under the hood, the Indian variant will mirror its Chinese counterpart, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, LPDDR5x Ultra RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage. A dedicated Q3 gaming chip is expected to boost frame stability and thermal performance, helped by a massive 8,000 sq mm single-layer vapour chamber.

With its high-end specs, extended update policy, and gaming chops, the iQOO 15 seems poised to blur the line between power and longevity. Are you excited for its launch? Let us know in the comments below.
