LG’s new monitor gets it right for both casual and pro gamers

The gaming monitor lets you bump up the resolution or refresh rate based on your needs

LG’s new monitor gets it right for both casual and pro gamers

There are a lot of gaming monitors out there, across budgets and across feature-sets that target those new to gaming, intermediate gamers, and professionals. However, there isn’t a Lord of the Rings-esque one-monitor-to-rule-them-all just yet. LG’s newly announced gaming monitor, however, is the closest we can get to one.

The new LG UltraGear 32-inch 4K OLED monitor comes with a Dual-Hz feature that lets you swap between two modes at the press of a button. One of these modes offers 4K resolutions on the panel with 240Hz refresh rate, while the other cuts the resolution down to Full HD but bumps the refresh rate up to an insane 480Hz.

LG UltraGear 32-inch 4K OLED: What’s the new Dual-Hz feature?

While the 4K/240Hz combination should offer plenty of pixels and frame rates for most casual and semi-pro level gamers, those who really want the best possible frame rates (and have the hardware to actually push those numbers) can switch to the FHD/480Hz mode for a more competitive experience. This would be ideal for fast-paced action games, especially first-person shooters, where speed and reaction time is key.

Both modes still offer a crisp, punchy OLED panel, along with perks like 0.03ms GtG response time, minimal bezels and front-facing stereo speakers, which really leaves even pro gamers nothing to complain about.

LG UltraGear 32-inch 4K OLED: Pricing and availability

Those who can’t wait to finish their gaming setup with this Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde monitor may still need to hold their horses for a bit. That’s because while LG has announced the monitor, it isn’t actually available anywhere just yet. LG has not even put a price to this monitor, but we expect the product to be actually available to purchase in the months to come.
