Can this curved keyboard be your best-friend at the office?

Logitech Wave Keys takes a curved approach to making long working hours easier

Typing is crucial to modern work. With computers and laptops having replaced pretty much everything from data entry and drawing to complex coding and machine learning, typing is the base of a lot of industries today, including my own as a writer. This is exactly why it is high time we start looking at new design approaches to keyboards, the primary input method for most computers around the globe today.

Fortunately, some brands have already started looking at new ways to make the trusty keyboard a better friend at your work desk. The new Logitech Wave Keys, a keyboard with a unique layout, is a great example of this. Here’s everything you need to know about the keyboard, including what makes it great and who it is ideal for.

Logitech Wave Keys top features

The Logitech Wave Keys is a full-size external keyboard, which can be paired with desktops, laptops, or even phones that support USB-C accessories. With a dedicated numpad on the right, it will support all kinds of keyboard shortcuts and have all the extra keys you need in some games.

However, the best part of the keyboard is the design, which is shaped like a wave. Logitech claims that this design places a user’s hands, forearms and wrists in a “natural typing position” compared to the conventional flat layout. Curved inward towards the user, the Logitech Wave Keys is centered around the middle, with keys like the spacebar, ‘T’, ‘G’ and ‘B’ closer to you than others in their row.

These rows are also raised higher, allowing your hands to rest on the keyboards at a slight slant, as opposed to completely flat. Lastly, there is also a cushion below the last row of keys, where users can rest their wrists.

The keyboard is also multi-OS compatible, allowing you to use with both Windows and macOS-based devices. It can be paired to supported machines with wither Bluetooth or the included Logi BOLT receiver. Those who use multiple devices in their workflow will also love the fact that the keyboard can be paired with up to three devices at a time, allowing you to quickly switch between them as required.

The Wave Keys will not be suitable for everyone who uses a keyboard, depending on what exactly you use one for. Hardcore gamers, for instance, would find elements like macro key support or tactile feedback more useful. However, if you do type a lot, whether it is for use cases like content writing, journalism, or even coding, you may appreciate the positioning more. That of course, will come after a slight learning curve to get used to the layout first.

Logitech Wave Keys price and availability

The Logitech Wave Keys keyboard is priced at Rs 6,995, which is the cost for both of its colour variants – Graphite and Off-white. While you can pick up some other neat keyboards at that price, including the retro-looking Logitech Pop Keys and the Logitech G413 Carbon wired gaming keyboard, you will miss out on the curved key layout, which may be more useful if consistent, comfortable typing is more of your thing.
