Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski made us believe that we were in a fighter jet’s cockpit with Tom Cruise. Now, he’s aiming to do the same with the upcoming F1 movie starring Brad Pitt. Only this time, the experience has gone up a few notches even before the movie has released. Apple has dropped a ‘haptic trailer’ for the F1 movie, and it is quite simply unreal.
What is the F1 movie haptic trailer?
As the name suggests, the trailer video makes use of your iPhone’s haptic engine to sync vibrations with what’s happening on screen. As Sonny Hayes (Pitt) speeds down the track in his F1 car, you will feel every turn, bump and engine revs through your phone’s vibrations.

The intensity of these vibrations increases to represent higher speeds and engine revs. What’s really interesting is how the makers have synced vibrations with even the smallest of events in the trailer – like a seatbelt click, button press on a steering wheel, and even background music beats.
Needless to say, you will have to watch the trailer to believe how good this experience really is. Speaking of which…
How to watch the F1 haptic trailer
The F1 movie haptic trailer is available to watch on the Apple TV app on your iPhone and the App Store. You will need an iPhone running iOS 18.4 and above to be able to experience this video.
What is the F1 movie about?
The movie stars Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a once-promising driver in the 1990s who was once dubbed “the greatest that never was” due to his potential. Though his F1 dreams never materialised, he is still seen racing cars, before his former team mate Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem) comes to him with a deal he cannot refuse.
Cervantes wants Hayes to come out of retirement and back to the track to race for his team Apex Grand Prix (APXGP). Partnering Hayes is hotshot rookie Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris). If the trailers are anything to go by, we expect this movie to be an action-packed experience on par (if not better) with Top Gun: Maverick.
