Nothing has rolled out the call recording feature for its smartphones. This update, which is available through the company’s Essential Space app, is currently limited to eight countries, including India. Here’s everything you need to know about the new call recording functionality for Nothing phones.
Nothing Phones now support auto call recording
Nothing has confirmed that the Essential Recorder feature will be available on all Nothing phones running on Nothing OS 3.0 and above. The feature is rolling out as an automatic, server-side update to the Essential Space app, so users do not need to perform a system software update (Nothing OS update) to receive it.
The update is available in countries such as India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, and the UK. Other regions are also expected to receive the update soon. It is currently being rolled out to devices such as the Nothing Phone 3, Phone 3a Pro, and Phone 3a.
How to use AI call recording function on Nothing phones?
Once you have the latest version of the Essential Space app, when you initiate a call, you will see a prompt that says, “Press the button (Start recording) or hold the Essential Key (physical button on the side of the Nothing phone) to start or stop recording.”
Once you choose either option, the call recording will begin with an announcement saying, “Recording in progress,” which the other party will also hear.
After the call ends, the Essential Space app allows users to access AI features like “Start AI analysis” for generating a call summary and transcription.

Nothing has been consistently adding new features to the Essential Space app. A recent update allows users to view tasks and to-do items added in Essential Space, which automatically sync with Google Calendar. Another update introduced the ability to manually review, edit, and refine data added by AI within the Essential Space for improved accuracy.
