OnePlus may skip out on the OnePlus 14 series entirely

OnePlus may ditch 14 and go big on OnePlus 15 with 7,000mAh battery and flat display

First, a moment of silence for the OnePlus 14, because it looks like we might not be getting one. According to fresh leaks, OnePlus is planning to jump straight from the OnePlus 13 to the OnePlus 15, skipping a number that many Chinese brands have historically avoided. The reason? In Chinese culture, the number 14 is considered unlucky.

If the leaks are anything to go by, the OnePlus 15 is shaping up to be a bold reset for its flagship line of phones – ditching curves for a flat, gamer-friendly display, squeezing in a massive 7,000mAh battery, and debuting Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-unveiled Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chip.

With specs like these, the OnePlus 15 could land right back in the flagship spotlight. Here’s everything we know about the OnePlus 15 so far.

OnePlus 15: Everything known so far

Let’s start with the screen, because that’s where OnePlus might be making its most visually impactful change. According to noted tipster Digital Chat Station, the OnePlus 15 is said to be moving away from the curved-edge displays it’s been toying with since the OnePlus 7 Pro. Instead, it’s going full flat, sporting a 6.78-inch LTPO panel with a 1.5K resolution.

Not only does this bring back a cleaner, more symmetrical look, but it also serves a real purpose – fewer accidental touches, easier screen protector compatibility, and an overall more user-friendly experience, especially for gamers and heavy typists. Throw in ultra-thin bezels enabled by LIPO packaging tech, and you’ve got a screen that’s as sleek as it is practical.

And in a world where flagships still hover around the 5,000mAh mark, the OnePlus 15 might be ready to blow the roof off. Rumours point to a 7,000mAh battery, a jaw-dropping number that, if true, would make it one of the most power-packed mainstream smartphones on the planet.

The phone is expected to retain 100W wired and wireless fast charging. That means you get multi-day endurance without the bulk of a power bank and without sacrificing recharge speed.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 15 will likely be among the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chip. While official details are still under wraps, we can safely assume improved AI capabilities, better thermals, and enhanced power efficiency across the board.

This chip could push the OnePlus 15 into the upper echelons of Android performance, placing it comfortably alongside the Galaxy S26 and Pixel 10 Pro, even if it technically arrives earlier than both.

One area where OnePlus appears to be playing it safe is the camera system. Leaks suggest the 15 will feature a triple 50MP setup, likely comprising a main sensor, an ultra-wide lens, and a periscope-style telephoto with approximately 3x optical zoom.

Beyond the headline specs, a few subtle but meaningful upgrades are also expected. The 0916-haptics motor promises sharper, more nuanced vibration feedback; think better keyboard taps and richer gaming pulses. The single-point ultrasonic fingerprint sensor should offer quicker and more reliable unlocking, even with damp or dirty fingers.

The rear of the phone is tipped to feature a fibreglass panel, a lightweight but premium-feeling material that helps offset the extra heft from that monster battery. And if durability’s a concern, you’ll be pleased to know the device is likely to carry both IP68 and IP69 ratings. Translation? It’s dust-tight and can take a splash, a spill, or even a short swim.

OnePlus 15 expected launch: First China, then everyone else

If OnePlus sticks to its traditional timeline, the OnePlus 15 will likely debut in China around October 2025, followed by a global release in January 2026. That would position it right at the starting line of next year’s flagship cycle, potentially beating Samsung and Google to the punch.
