OnePlus 15 vs OnePlus 13: What’s new?

OnePlus recently took the wraps off the OnePlus 15 globally. The device comes with a refreshed design, the latest Snapdragon 8 series processor, and the largest-ever battery. But what’s exactly new when compared to the predecessor, the OnePlus 13? In this article, we’ll find out exactly that. So read on.

OnePlus 15 vs OnePlus 13: Design and display

The OnePlus 15 still has the standard OnePlus aura, but the back design has changed significantly. It gets a square camera island on the back, as opposed to the circular island. The island itself is a bit more protruding, adding to its looks. Unlike the OnePlus 13, eco leather back, the OnePlus 15 keeps things simple with a glass back, featuring a matte finish.

The OnePlus 15 gets a BOE-made LTPO AMOLED panel with up to 165Hz refresh rate and 1.5K resolution. The screen has an improved 1,800 HBM brightness for better sunlight legibility.

The OnePlus 13, on the other hand, features a 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a lower 120Hz refresh rate support and 1.5K resolution. It has 1,600 nits of HBM brightness. The OnePlus 15 is slimmer at 8.1mm, as compared to the 8.5mm thickness of the 13. Both weigh under 215 grams.

OnePlus 15 vs OnePlus 13: Cameras

The camera system is similar on both models. You get a triple-rear camera setup with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor, and a 50MP ultra-wide unit on both models. However, you get 3.5x optical zoom support for the periscope lens on the OnePlus 15, as opposed to the 3x optical zoom.

Upfront, there’s a 32MP camera sensor on both phones and they can shoot 4K videos at 60fps. Rear cameras on both phones can shoot 8K videos at 30fps.

OnePlus 15 vs OnePlus 13: Performance, battery, software

Performance is where things differ significantly. The new OnePlus 15 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, whereas the OnePlus 13 packs the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Having said that, you can expect an improved performance across your workload. The former has the new UFS 4.1 storage, and the latter gets UFS 4.0 storage.

Both have 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. As for the battery, you get a larger 7,300mAh silicon-carbon battery inside the OnePlus 15, which supports 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. The 13 also has a large battery, but not as big as the 15, i.e., a 6,000mAh cell with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging

Since the OnePlus 15 is new, it runs the latest Android 16 OS, while the OnePlus 13 boots on Android 15. Both phones also get long years of updates. Other than this, they both have several software features, including AI tools across apps. For example, you get the AI eraser tool in photos.

Overall, the OnePlus 15 is a great upgrade over the OnePlus 13. It geta a refreshed design, improved performance, and a big battery. But the OnePlus 13 is also quite capable, meaning you can stick to it for now. Although, for new buyers, you can easily go for the 15.
