Ahead of the OnePlus 15T launch in China later today, a new leak has surfaced suggesting that the brand may be working on a handheld gaming device. This would mean that OnePlus may expand its product portfolio beyond smartphones. The information comes from reliable Digital Chat Station on Weibo.
OnePlus rumoured to step into handheld gaming
DCS does not explicitly mention the name of the company and rather refers to as a smartphone manufacturer confirmed to be working on an Android handheld console. Fans and communities are confident that OnePlus is behind this project. The device is primarily said to be designed for first-person shooter games like PUBG and Delta Force.
Preliminary information shared by the tipster hints at a built-in display with multi-finger responsiveness, touch accuracy, and latency. There will also be physical-tactile controls but the inclusion of touch screen will set it apart from all-buttons and joystick interface. Many modern consoles like Steam Deck, ROG Ally X, and Lenovo Legion Go come with touch screen.

The leak also reveals that the OnePlus handheld console will come with ultra-high refresh rates and flagship-level performance.
Premium OnePlus smartphones are already capable of playing graphic-intensive games. You can easily slap a gaming controller for a handheld experience. By launching a separate handheld console, OnePlus would merge a large screen with touch support and physical buttons into one unit.
If OnePlus indeed launches a handheld console, other smartphone OEMs may also join the bandwagon. For now, we can expect to hear more details doing the rounds of rumour mill in the coming months.
