OnePlus is expected to unveil the OnePlus 16 in the second half of this year in China. So far, recent reports have been gradually revealing the key specs of the company’s next flagship. In a new leak, well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed details about its periscope telephoto camera, chipset, and RAM.
OnePlus 16 key details tipped
According to DCS, the OnePlus 16 will be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship chip with model code SM8975. For those unfamiliar, Qualcomm is reportedly planning to launch two Snapdragon 8-series chipsets with model codes such as SM8950 and SM8975. Both chipsets will be the company’s first chips to be built on a 2nm process.
According to reports, the SM8975, which will have support for LPDDR6 RAM, could be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, whereas the SM8950 will be simply called the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. The inclusion of LPDDR6 in the Pro chip promises significantly higher data rates (up to 14.4 Gbps) and roughly double the bandwidth compared to LPDDR5.
Previous leaks have claimed that the Pro chip will be seen only on Ultra-branded flagships. However, it appears that the OnePlus 16 could be one of the early adopters of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. This also suggests that the OP16 will be a performance-focused flagship.
Several reports have claimed that the OnePlus 16 will be the company’s first phone with a 200MP camera. Today’s leak states that the current engineering prototype of the OP16 will feature this 200MP sensor for the periscope telephoto camera.
Other reports have revealed that the OnePlus 16 may feature a 200Hz or 240Hz OLED panel with support for a 1.5K resolution. Its rear camera setup may include a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP camera on the front. It may house a massive 9,000mAh battery and run on OxygenOS 17-based Android 17.
OnePlus 16 launch timeframe (expected)
OnePlus unveiled the OnePlus 15 in October 2025, followed by a global launch in November. Therefore, the OnePlus 16 may debut in India and other markets in November, but debut first in October in China.
